Constructing your career
Temporary and freelance contractors shape a valuable part of the construction industry, enabling organisations to inflate their workforce quickly at critical times. This level of flexibility is most often required by companies in response to a sudden rise in workload, an unexpected project win, holiday and sickness cover, or during a planned programme of specialist works.
At Corepeople, we have been recruiting and managing temporary positions for more than two decades, so we have a strong understanding of the needs of both the employer and temporary worker in a contract arrangement.
We recognise that for many workers in construction, temporary contracting is a lifestyle choice from which many benefits can be gained. The most obvious of these include flexible hours, competitive rates of pay, speed of placement into a new job, weekly income, plus variety when it comes to project workload, company settings and exposure to different people and challenges.
Taking excellent care of our temporary workforce is a priority for Corepeople.
- We ensure that every temporary assignment we recruit for is positioned within a well-managed site that meets regulated health and safety measures and that the company will provide appropriate inductions.
- We ensure that every temporary worker has full visibility of the job details including the expected contract duration, reporting structure and relevant contact details of the manager, in addition to providing a 24 hour mobile number for Corepeople.
- We operate a sophisticated payroll system and employ a longstanding payroll team who are closely integrated with our recruitment consultants, which means that all queries are handled quickly and efficiently, ensuring accurate payment each and every week to all temporary workers.
- We maintain regular contact with every temporary worker including a first day check in and check out, followed by weekly aftercare and continued placement into new assignments.
As we know the industry so well, we can go some way in predicting the busiest times. We have regular contact from contractors, subcontractors and plant hire companies regarding their project peaks and immediate and short term requirements, so we are always in a strong position to offer temporary work options to people in a multitude of construction roles including technical and professional positions, skilled and semi-skilled trades disciplines and plant operatives.
